Not Worth the Trip – Only If You’re Already Nearby I do NOT recommend making a special trip here. Only visit if you’re already in the area and curious to take a quick look. The place feels quite outdated, with many shops closed and the remaining ones mostly selling the same kind of items. If you enjoy bargaining, you can try your luck here — just state your price clearly from the start. If they accept, great. If not, move on quickly. Overall, there’s nothing particularly unique or exciting. If you’re looking for old markets for clothes or souvenirs, there are definitely much better options in the region that are more worth your time.

I travelled from Ubud to Sukawati Art Market using Trans Metro Dewata. You can pay easily with QRIS or e-money cards like E-Money, Flazz, etc. The market itself is clean, and the prices are quite affordable as long as you’re good at bargaining. Most vendors will go down to about half of their initial price. I arrived around 10 AM and many stalls were still just opening, but there were already plenty of options to browse. Overall, it’s a great place to shop, just make sure you negotiate!

It’s a local art market and please note the keyword «local» so it won’t have air con or that shiny floor or modern wall. Compare to other art market I have been in Indonesia, let me tell you that this place is so much better and tidier. In an asian local market it’s very common to : have a «not spacious» place, lots of sellers offering you their item, they can get a bit clingy to get you to buy their good, but it’s completely ok to just smile walk on or just completely ignore it. If you are interested in any item, you MUST bargain, that’s the unwritten rule. Don’t feel bad to bargain the heck out of it as this is normal. The issue is if you are not used to this environment especially one that is used to western market with the quiet and friendly seller, this will be like culture shock to you guys. Other than that, if you can keep your poker face, stand your ground while walking around this spot you could actually score a serious savings on any art works that they sell for double, tripple or more on place in Ubud or other upmarket art shop. So people before you mark this place as one star, remember if you have a «soft heart» then skip this place and stick with the upmarket gallery and pay the luxury tax, but if you are adventurous, can stand your ground, bargain addict and have that poker face on then this is your place 🙂

Sukawati Market is a very large shopping area filled with tightly packed shops selling almost everything you can imagine. From T-shirts, wooden carvings, fridge magnets, handbags, souvenirs, paintings, and traditional Balinese crafts, there are plenty of options to explore. If you enjoy street shopping and bargaining, this place can be quite interesting. The key thing to remember here is that negotiation is essential to get a good price. Vendors usually quote a much higher price at first. For example, I bought around 10 dresses. The initial price quoted was 1,000k IDR, but after negotiating I brought it down to 300k IDR, and we finally settled at 370k IDR. So bargaining really makes a big difference when shopping here. Unfortunately, I visited the market at the last minute on my final day in Bali, so I didn’t have enough time to explore properly. Because of that, I couldn’t shop as much as I wanted. My suggestion for visitors is to plan at least 3–4 hours if you want to explore the market comfortably and negotiate prices without rushing. There are also a few street shopping stalls outside the market, which are worth checking out if you have time. Plan your visit well to enjoy the experience fully.

Wonderful art in every style, shape and size. We purchased wood, paintings, sculptures. Great prices and much better than touristy spots of course. Lovely stall holders keen to make a sale and give a good price. We found the stall holders outside to be the cheapest.

I had such a great experience shopping at Bintara! The items are super unique and not the usual stuff you see everywhere. Everything feels high quality and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, which made the whole shopping experience even better. You can really feel they care about their customers. What I love most is that they have a beautiful garden connected to the back of the store where you can enjoy a Bali spa with professional masseuses. It’s such a relaxing hidden gem! Definitely a one-stop shopping place that saves you time while you’re in Bali. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality, uniqueness, and great service all in one place.

Stopped by this beautiful little shop during my time in Bali and ended up leaving with far more than I planned to. The handcrafted pieces are gorgeous, thoughtfully made, and feel truly special. What made the experience even better was the service — warm, patient, and genuinely welcoming without being pushy. You can tell there’s a lot of care behind both the products and the people here. If you’re looking for meaningful souvenirs instead of mass-produced tourist items, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Thank you for such a lovely experience ❤️

Ubud Art Market is a charming local market tucked away in the small streets of central Ubud, making it a pleasant place to explore while experiencing the town’s artistic atmosphere. The market is lined with numerous local stalls selling a wide variety of handmade goods, including paintings, wood carvings, woven bags, clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, and traditional Balinese handicrafts. It’s an enjoyable place to browse, even if you’re not planning to buy anything. The narrow alleyways create a cozy and authentic atmosphere, allowing visitors to wander at a leisurely pace while discovering unique items from local artisans. It’s also a great place to practice your bargaining skills, as friendly negotiation is common.

Vendors are seriously trying to rip you off, aren’t amiable to bargaining, the prices are still astronomically high. It is too busy, too crowded, not many keepsakes are there that you cant find elsewhere, for alot cheaper. The quite of ot of the products are not congruent with the pricing at all, but nevertheless It was great to meet local business owners and show support, even though in my heart I knew it was not a fair price. Locals are always really polite and friendly, ready to chat ( I did get sorely ripped off by the fruit stand lady and got accosted and chased down by the woman selling fans outside Moksa, which are rare occurenced but the only area I experiencd such a thing). Other tourists however the most prickly, entitled and unselfish aware beings on the planet no sense of spacial awareness they will walk right into you, try and steamroll you on the already narrow sidewalk (find every single one of them here). Rather go further in to Ubud there are many Boutique jewelery stores, and stores selling other chachkes, often as bulk deals if your buying for friends and family and they are far more reasonably priced.

Dear Team of Ubud Art Market, we visted you two days ago and it was very cool. The vendors were sometimes a little mean, but you always need to bargain with them and if you don’t buy something from them it seems, that they curse you or something. Still a cool experience. Thank you! 😌

Want a bargain? Go to unit/shop/block 19 to see Jake, he’s proficient in English, very friendly and helpful! Even for goods from other shops other than his, he can help you get them at bottom bargain price, just give him a voluntarily, fair tips. How do I know? Because I purchased some linen shirt and pants at other neighborhood at what I thought already to be a good deal, after talking to Jake, he helped me purchased more from his neighbor at even a better price… Talk to Jake; will safe you alot of headaches haggling (and money) 😉😉.

Nice place to find tourists souvenirs and most likely brand copies. A little overpriced compared to anything else you can find, nothing is really authentic or handmade, but at least you got a good large choice in one single location. Can fund everything there, without having to look too long around.

It is a great place to buy souvenirs, although very repetitive. We would have liked to have wandered and looked but you can’t do that. It is non stop talking to you, begging you, grabbing you, high pressure sales. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll probably love it. Combined with the heat, the cramped space and the sheer sensory overload, we were exhausted and overwhelmed within half an hour. It’s the Kuta shopping alleys on steroids.

The Flea Market was a fun place to browse, with plenty of different stalls to check out. I liked that there was a better selection here than at some other markets, especially for souvenirs, bags, clothes, and jewelry. It’s an easy spot to wander through, and having a restaurant at the back is a nice bonus if you want to take a break.

A fun little market to wander through while in Seminyak. It was fairly quiet on the day we visited, which made it easier to browse without too much chaos. Most vendors weren’t overly willing to bargain and seemed quite happy for you to walk away, which was fine as many stalls sold very similar items. After being turned down by one jewellery stall, we found another seller who gave us a great deal on some silver rings my daughter wanted. The funniest experience was definitely at one of the bag stalls, where we were trying to negotiate for three fake designer bags. The seller absolutely refused to budge on the price of one Marc Jacobs tote. In the end we «won» the negotiation… or maybe they did 😄 Either way, the quality was actually pretty good and it made for a fun afternoon shopping experience.

They might start by asking 400k IDR, so just make your offer. I said 100k. They didn’t ask us to leave—we simply acted like we were leaving, and that’s when they called us back and agreed: «Ok boss, 100k is fine.» Very nice people, friendly and easygoing. They like to chat and ask where you’re from. My wife and I spent hours there, enjoying the atmosphere and shopping.

We loved exploring the Seminyak Flea Market as a couple! It’s the perfect spot if you’re into bargain hunting, handmade souvenirs, and supporting local artisans. The stalls are full of colorful sarongs, rattan bags, jewelry, and art—definitely something for everyone. The vibe is friendly and relaxed, and most sellers are open to bargaining (in a nice way!). It’s just a short walk from Seminyak Village, so it’s easy to combine both in one outing. We had fun browsing, chatting with the vendors, and picking up a few Bali-style pieces to take home. A must-visit for anyone wanting authentic, local shopping in Seminyak!

Flea Market Seminyak Review: Nice place to walk around, but I found the prices here much higher than in Ubud. For example, the same silky robe I bought in Ubud for a very good price costs almost three times more in Seminyak! It’s still a nice market with cute souvenirs, but definitely more for tourists. If you want better deals, Ubud is the place to shop.

Mariana Dinu ☆ 2/5

It’s a compact and small market, only good thing is that it’s covered thus making shopping under the sun not that bad. Around 30 stores. But the sellers inside won’t bargain that much. A normal singlet selling inr60-80k at Kuta/Ubud art market is selling inr100k there after discount. Only used 10-15min and finished all stores. Better to go Kuta or Ubud art markets with more options.

Ubud Street Market is a great place to visit when exploring Ubud. The market is filled with many small shops selling a wide variety of souvenirs, clothing, handmade crafts, and gifts, making it easy to find something to take home. We visited in the late evening to avoid the heat, and all of the shops were still open and welcoming customers. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, making it a pleasant experience to walk around and browse. One tip for visitors is that bargaining is expected. Most vendors initially quote higher prices, so do not be afraid to negotiate. In many cases, prices can be reduced significantly through friendly bargaining. Overall, it is a fun and authentic shopping experience in Ubud and a great place to pick up souvenirs while enjoying the local atmosphere.

Ubud Market is one of those places where I could spend an entire day and still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. It’s vibrant, busy, and full of hidden treasures tucked away in little alleys, the kind of place that makes you want to wander endlessly. One thing to know: there are no fixed prices. Ubud Market – A Lively Hub of Culture and Craftsmanship Ubud Market is a must-visit spot in the heart of Ubud, perfect for those looking to soak in local culture and shop for authentic Balinese souvenirs. The market is filled with stalls offering a wide range of items — from wooden carvings, woven bags, and sarongs, to handmade jewelry and traditional Balinese costumes. It’s a great place to wander and explore, with narrow paths lined by colorful, traditional shops. Bargaining is expected — and part of the fun — so don’t hesitate to negotiate for the best price 🤭. While it can get busy during the day, the lively atmosphere adds to its charm. It’s conveniently located near the Ubud Palace and Water Palace, making it easy to include in your walking tour of central Ubud. Tip: Come early for fewer crowds and better deals!

Very typical bazaar atmosphere. Stall owners are polite, perhaps a little pushy at times but very tolerable. Haggling is expected. Unfortunately most stalls sell the same variant of approximately 50 products, so after about 10 stalls you’ve essentially seen it all. Probably the best street market I’ve seen in Bali.

Same as stuff as everyone else but more expensive, rip off street vendors will give you the same price even if you don’t count your change.

Great store to shop for souvenirs without being hassled by the shop keepers. Very relaxed atmosphere and fixed prices on all items.

Good selection of tourist souvenirs. A lot of the souvenirs don’t even relate to Bali, so not sure why they should be bought though. Set prices items, so you don’t need to haggle like street stalls.

There’s no parking. You have to fight with a blue taxi. Blue taxis feel powerful, so private drivers are not allowed to park, claiming they’ve rented a public road for parking. I don’t recommend it.Better to go to Krisna Oleh Oleh or Bali Agung

BARGAIN IS THE KEY We have been to the market few times. Most of the sellers will ask you to buy but some of them are arrogant and will not reduce price. In my experience ubud market was far better. For example I purchased a baby dress for $10 ( initially I was asked to pay $25) but at seminayak paid $7 for a similar dress. Its beautiful to have a walk down the street and enjoy different colors.

The market experience was overwhelming and exhausting. The market was quiet; some stores advised that it’s been very slow in terms of sales. A lot of repetitive items and shopkeepers talking amongst themselves and at one stage my son was yelled at by a salesperson to get his attention so that he would head over to that store. The haggle is definitely a thing at this market but it’s not something I’m comfortable with so I don’t do it. This visit took place on Wednesday in the morning

the markets were empty when we arrived. it is boiling hot inside these tents. other than that it is lovely to walk around and explore… NOTHING MORE! the sellers here are asking an arm and a leg for the most simple souvenirs and clothing. like i understand this is a place for tourists but it’s extremely expensive and they don’t like to bargain too much… the sellers get offended it’s better to go to local shops and markets than this.

Terrible place to visit – same crap as anywhere else in Bali but found the vendors more aggressive and unwilling to negotiate. Don’t waste your time – there’s no bargains or different stuff here – shop elsewhere where the vendors are more fun and you can be more selective on who you deal with. Keep an eye on the shoes they sell you – we found the ones the sell you in the bags are not necessarily the same as on the shelf (worse quality), or in our case even broken, but it didn’t stop them trying to push them on you for top dollar…
