Fantastic experience for beginners – highly recommend! I found UP2U Surf School through Google reviews, and they absolutely lived up to the high rating. As a first-time surfer, I was a bit nervous, but the setup here is perfect. I was placed in a small group of just three people, which meant plenty of individual attention.The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and patient. They made sure to spend 1-on-1 time with each of us, constantly providing helpful, real-time feedback and pointers to improve our technique. The owner, Paul, was also really attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. On top of the great service, the prices are very reasonable. A huge bonus is that they include a photo and video package at no extra cost, which is a really nice touch to look back on your progress. I will definitely be back!

I had an amazing experience with UP2U Surf School at Legian Kuta Beach. I chose them because of their great reviews and because their lessons are held on a shallow sand-bottom beach, which is much easier and safer for beginner surfers compared to reef breaks. I tried one surf lesson in Canggu that was double the price, with no photos, and I barely learned anything. With UP2U, the lesson was much better paced. They give you a 10min break between sessions to catch your breath, so you can actually make the most of it without getting too exhausted. The instructors are passionate, patient, and give tips after every attempt, so you can improve throughout the lesson. I also noticed a couple of female instructors which might be helpful for some. I did the 5 lesson private package with Dennis as my teacher and each day I was able to try a smaller board. He let me catch whitewash waves on my own and even paddled out with me to the lineup with more experienced surfers. He was there the entire time I was in the water and I went from almost zero experience to catching small unbroken waves in 5 lessons. I can confidently go out on my own into the surf and it was one of the best experiences in my life. I genuinely highly recommend this surf school. My boyfriend and I initially booked 2 beginner classes followed by their 5-day course. Ifan was our first instructor on our beginner classes, who taught us the basics of surfing. He’s a great instructor and was very patient with us. Instructor Adi took over our following classes and he teaches with tough love, but we love him! He tells us our mistakes every time we make one (which is often) and immediately corrects us. He is an EXCELLENT instructor. I managed to change from a soft board to a fun board within 7 lessons which is insane to me because I am personally afraid of water as i’m not the best swimmer but this experience made me feel like I was one with the ocean, which makes me feel so much more confident in surfing now that we can just rent boards even without the instructors, thanks to the foundation they have taught and imbedded in us. We seriously appreciate them and can’t thank them enough. Special thanks to Paul for the great pictures and advise on which classes to book. You seriously HAVE to take surfing lessons with Up2U whether you’re a beginner or not. Best team ever and their price is very affordable!!!! Side note: get coconuts from david’s beach bar next to Up2U, friendliest couple ever.

I had the best time at Kima Surf Camp Seminyak. The surf guides are super supportive, skilled, and make the sessions so much fun. The rooms are cozy, all the facilities are great, and the food is amazing. But honestly, the best part is the people. The staff are super friendly, and the social hosts do such a great job of making everyone feel welcome and at home (Shoutout to Jess, Natalie, Mona, and Julia). I absolutely loved the vibe of the camp and all the activities throughout the day, which made it really easy to meet people and make friends. I also appreciated that the camp is genuinely focused on your progress, with two surf sessions a day and video analysis that made a real difference. I had an amazing time at Kima Surf Camp Seminyak! From day one the camp felt like a little home away from home. A huge shout-out to the social hosts Julia and Ricarda: their positive vibes and smiles are contagious. They’re always around, making sure everyone feels included, helping people connect, and creating a fun, easy-going atmosphere. The surf guides were equally fantastic: really motivated, supportive, and great at adapting the sessions to different levels. They’re focused on helping you improve while keeping things safe and fun. What I loved most is the family feeling in the camp. It’s the kind of place where you quickly go from «meeting people» to «sharing laughs like friends,» and you end up rooting for each other in the water.

Second time staying at Kima and had an absolute blast again. The surfing is genuinely one of the best experiences you can get, from how well everything is organized to the amazing instructors. The experience outside of surfing is just as good. Great food, an amazing team, and such a fun social atmosphere. The social hosts really bring everything together, especially Natalie, who was absolutely amazing and made the whole experience even better. Couldn’t recommend Kima enough, and I’ll definitely be back.

Had an amazing time at the Kima Surf Camp. My first camp in general and I just started out with surfing. Could improve my skills pretty quickly thanks to the helpful and patient instructors and the opportunity to take two surf sessions per day. I always felt safe and there were enough surf guides to take care of all the students, especially in the beginner sessions. The program is well structured and with an online planner you can choose between different surf sessions, lessins and theory classes per day. They choose their surf spots depending on the conditions and forecast on a daily basis. My accommodation was cozy and the vibe in the camp is generally very relaxing. The events in the camp were nice as well. Per day there are about three activities you can join, ranging from barbecue with guitar music, quiz nights, volleyball and sunset yoga at the beach, to partying in canggu, and a lot more. All people were very friendly and it’s easy to get in touch even for introverts. The staff was friendly and I felt welcome. Was looking forward to my breakfast every day. Would like to come back and can only recommend this place!

I had a great time at Kima Surf Camp and would highly recommend it. The learn-to-surf program is perfect for beginners and genuinely helps you improve quickly. The instructors break things down clearly, and with one-on-one support, you feel much more confident in the water. The social secretaries did a great job organising activities after surfing. The atmosphere is friendly, and it was easy to meet other people. A special thanks to Polina, one of the social secs, who showed me around and made me feel included from the very first day! The breakfast was so good and much needed after early morning surf sessions. You could choose from a full 3-course meal or a smoothie bowl. Overall, it was a good mix of surfing and social life. I had a really good time, even though I only stayed for 4 days.

My wife and I visited the school the night before to make a reservation. It was a sudden visit, and our English was poor, but they were very kind and accommodating. Afterwards, we exchanged details via WhatsApp and the day arrived. On the day of the lesson, all we had to do was wear our swimsuits; they provided us with surfboards, leashes, rash guards, and towels. After leaving our valuables in a locker, we headed to the beach. The lesson followed a routine of training on land followed by surfing in the ocean. It was almost my wife’s first time, but thanks to the careful coaching, she successfully took off on her very first wave! She was able to catch many more waves afterwards, creating wonderful memories in the beautiful land of Bali! We also received lots of photos to take home! If you’re looking for a surf school in the Seminyak area, I highly recommend it!

Yoga is an amazing instructor, he was very clear and made it so easy for me. As a beginner I was nervous and he knew how to make sure I was calm and gain confidence in the water. Very patient and pushed me when I needed it. I had a brilliant time and would really recommend!!

Definitely the highlight of my trip! The instructors are amazing and supported us throughout the two hours we learnt how to surf! We expected a laid back bodyboarding session but were pleasantly surprised by a surfing lesson instead! The instructors were so kind and assisted me throughout the session. By the end of the two hour sessions I could stand on the board and let the waves wash me back to the shore (without any prior experience). It was really fun and I would definitely go again!

Our instructor Avan was super patient, professional, and made us feel safe and confident in the water. The safety briefing was very informative and we felt very safe with him. My daughter had a happy experience surfing with Surf Well Bali!! This is her second Bali surf trip, last time we surfed at Kuta and this time we decide to surf at Canggu and we booked a private lesson two days one session per day and she enjoyed so much !! We rate Surf well Bali 10/10!! She has two different coaches on first and second day and both are nice and experienced and we especially thanks Surya for his wonderful coaching on second day and my daughter able to enjoy the waves!! One more thing is big thumbs up to their professional photographer and really worth the extra price for the amazing photos and videos !! We paid extra for the drone footage and this document her beautiful surfing memory!! We are happy to choose Surf Well Bali and we will definitely come back again next time !!

I was in bali for a week and had 3 lessons with Roi and 2 with Surya. I had a wonderful experience learning from Roi and Surya. Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and ability to break down techniques into simple steps made the lesson enjoyable and easy to follow. I especially appreciated how they constantly provide encouragements and always focusing on safety first. Really enjoyed lessons with them. Highly recommend taking lessons from them. My kids and I had a blast learning to surf for the first time in Kuta Beach, Bali, Indonesia. The school is conveniently located within the Mercure Hotel property in front of Kuta Beach near Hard Rock Hotel Bali, so it’s very easy to find, free parking and very safe. The staffs are so nice and helpful, I had trouble making payment online in advance to secure the instructors ( we opted for private lesson), but they made an exception and just told me to come an hour earlier which we plan to because traffic in Bali is super bad. The instructors couldn’t be more helpful, kind and fun, my kids and I were a bit nervous as we’re not strong swimmers. But the instructors made us all feel so safe and confident and after a few tries, we all can stand up in the surfboard to ride the waves. There’s 15 mns break in between the lesson and there’s shower, lockers and changing rooms inside the facility. They also took pictures during your lesson which is available for purchase. We ended up buyin all the digital copies for roughly $12. Very good school for first timer and amateur. Overall we had a great experience.

Booked a private lesson for my 15yo daughter. Great instructor, transferred over from Nusa Dua and had showers and provided a towel for after the session. There might be cheaper surf schools but this really was great service. Highly recommend 👌

He literally jumped in the air celebrating when I nailed a stand-up and caught a wave properly! Thanks to his coaching, I was already standing up by my third wave. The very next day, he moved me up with the intermediate surfers so I could keep improving faster and challenge myself even more. I took two days of lessons with T, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. He is patient, friendly, highly skilled, and incredibly professional. Went for a 4pm class today with waifu and it was amazing! Kudos to our instructor, Syaifu, who’s funny and detailed oriented. He pays attention to our strokes and correct our posture in a chillex and deliver the message clearly. Definitely recommend him for beginners (as I am a beginner 😂) the beach is great too!

THEY ARE THE BEST SURFING CLASSSSSS!!! Always on your safety and make sure you’re ok! And KOMANG my coach I recommend 100% they can speak fluent English so totally no language barrier! And my partner coach BULLDOG also amazing!!! KOMANG coach during the surfing session he kept me safe and patient explain to me and give me confidence and guess what!!! I manage to surf my first time!!! Btw if you can’t swim like me don’t worry they gotchu with life jacket too! BOOK THEM AT ALL COST!

Had a great time earlier! 11/10 rating for me! They are very accommodating and flexible in adjustment of our schedule! We take the beginners class (group class) as we have zero experience in surfing but interested to try. Robinsons was our coach and he taught us in great detail, first in theory in the sand, then in actual at the sea. There were breaks and refreshments in between. Surfboards and rashguards were provided if you dont have. Best to surf in the afternoon for beginners as it is low tide. I never beleived i could learn to surf in just 2hrs. 🤗 Our belongings were safe as well! Storage is free =) Will recommend to my friends definitely!

I personally have been in Bali for 8 months and been to multiple surfing schools in Canggu and Kuta. I have to say Bali Surf Class Instructors are most passionate in what they do, patience and concerns about their surf students. I had three coaches, Coach Harman was friendly and 😎, coach Bagas was sharp at reading, timing waves and motivating, coach Jerry was warm as a person and able to spot and explain in details. I even hired drone from them to capture my moments in surfing and it’s unforgettable experience for me. I will definitely come again!

Arya is the surf king of Canggu, a general kind and warm guy and a really good teacher! Very much recommend taking lessons from him 🤙🏽

Arya surf school is a pretty chill out place in Echo beach. In fact there are quiet a number of surf schools there for you to choose and its 1 big happy family. Instructors are professional and fun. Unfortunately I think the entire beach area is dirty and the waters are not clean. We learn surfing near the river mouth and you could see rubbish floating towards the open sea.

Everything about it was amazing! From the very first moment, everyone made me feel welcome, and as a beginner I felt safe at all times. There was always someone supervising me and helping me out. When I felt tired they let me rest. Beyond their professionalism, the instructors were also really funny, which made the surf lessons entertaining, and everytime I could better myself they told me how to. Having been to a few surf schools before, I can confidently say this one has been the best by far. So I highly recommend Arya surf school to anyone!

I have done 2 lessons with Arya’s school so far and had an amazing time and learnt so much! Both my parents had their first 2 sessions here too and were standing up both times! I’ve been a few times but caught my first green waves and did my first few turns under their excellent instruction surfing Pererenan Beach. Arya’s instructors (and Arya himself) are local to the area and have been surfing these waves for many years and know exactly how to get the best out of their students and the waves. I went through the spin cycle a few times of course but was so buzzed to have ridden my first proper waves and start to progress even further on my surf journey – my parents want to keep coming back too!

They were great! The guys were really dedicated to teach us and were always cheering when we improved. Felt a good energy from them and the hour went quickly as we enjoyed ourselves!

As my second time surfing, i had a great learning experience and found this school to be comfortable for beginners. Instructions are easy to understand, good guidance was given out at sea. The waves were appropriate for beginners and the beach boys were friendly and warm. The waves were quite frequent, which meant we could get in more tries without having to paddle out too much. Conditions were good for learning. Tango, the surf school’s mascot greeted us with open arms and joined us in the sea (to catch some fish). It was incredibly fun. We were also pleasantly surprised to come back from our surf with a photographer taking pictures for us. Highly recommend the sunset surfing time, cause the scenery is just too gorgeous. Much love to gede, ozzy, and ricky for such a great experience, will definitely be back for more surf lessons.

My wife and I went to Bali for our honeymoon and out of nowhere decided we wanted to learn to surf. We found Santai online and decided to book with them – we are so glad we did! From the moment we enquired about booking, they were beyond helpful, putting us at ease throughout the whole process. On the day they were incredible – so professional, they had incredible instructors who explained everything so clearly on the beach, and then made sure we had the best time ever once we were in the ocean! My concern was I would spend a tonne of time in the water falling off the board and barely surf, but the instructors were so amazing, both my wife and I were up and surfing within 10 minutes, we felt like superstars! Henney was also kind enough to take pictures of us during the session, and the shots were amazing! We had the best time, and can’t recommend Santai enough. There are dozens of surf schools in the area, but honestly with Santai you can’t go wrong. Super professional, they’re based on the beach so they can keep an eye on the waves, so you know you’re in great hands. What more can I say? If you’re going to Bali, you have to surf with Santai!!!

Had such a fantastic time, I can’t recommend this school enough! I went with a group of friends (all complete beginners) for an hour lesson and it was the most fun I’ve had in our trip so far! The teachers were easygoing and funny but also made sure to look after our wellbeing. They gave clear instructions and looked after all of us (10 people) equally without leaving anyone behind or focusing too much on one person which some instructors can do. It was such a thrill to be able to stand on the board for longer than 1 second, and as a bonus they had a dog to keep us company when we were tired out from surfing! If I’m back in Bali I’ll be sure to come back again!

Excellent surf instructor! I’ve had two private lessons with him so far, and I feel well at ease following his instructions. He’s a very patient teacher and doesn’t overwhelm, goes at your individual pace and celebrates even the small victories! Brown is an excellent coach. Patient, friendly and fun to surf with. I took 3 back to back sessions with him and being a beginner, by the end of it I was easily catching waves and balancing on the board. Looking forward to surfing again. Highly recommended 👌

I had a great experience and fun with Brown! I showed the a video of my surfing experience I did 2 months ago and he adapted to my level very quick. While one school told me the waves for that day were going to be very big for me and better to wait, Brown got me there and helped me improve my surfing skills, while taking safety measures and having fun. I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Rip Curl School of Surf in Bali. From day one, all of the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, helpful, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone had a great time both in and out of the water. The atmosphere was relaxed, encouraging, and fun, which made learning so much easier. A special shout-out has to go to my instructor, Budi. He is an absolute legend. His patience, positivity, and ability to explain things in a way that actually clicked made all the difference. He knew exactly when to push me, when to encourage me, and how to build my confidence in the waves. I honestly owe all of my progress to him. After just five short surf sessions, I was amazed by how far I had come. What I managed to achieve in that time felt relatively impressive for a complete beginner, and there is no way I would have gotten there without Budi’s coaching and support. If you’re thinking about learning to surf or improving your skills, I couldn’t recommend Rip Curl School of Surf more highly. Great staff, great instructors, great vibes, and memories I’ll be talking about for a long time.

Had a great first surf session at Kuta beach here with my daughter! Tias assisted on-site and coordinated our travel between our hotel in Sanur and Kuta beach. Very professional with safety gear, rash vest and great coach. Would do this again.

I had a few surf sessions with Surya at Rip Curl School of Surf in Sanur, Bali, and it was honestly a blast! He is extremely patient, knowledgeable, and passionate about surfing. What really impressed me was not just his understanding of surfing theory, but the way he teaches beginners. Not everyone who is good at surfing knows how to teach properly, but Surya definitely has that skill. He explains things clearly, gives confidence in the water, and makes learning fun and comfortable. I’ll definitely be coming back to Bali and hope to learn under him again. Highly recommended!

I work in water sports, so my expectations were high, and I’ve got to say—he absolutely delivered. From boat handling to foiling tips and coaching, everything was on point. I walked away not just hitting my goals but going beyond what I was hoping to achieve. The vibe at the school was solid too—everyone was friendly, laid-back, and genuinely passionate about what they do. All-around great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to level up on the water.

A group and I had an amazing time cleaning up the mangrove, which is such a good way to help the environment and bond with friends and family! I need to come back and check out all the amazing water sports they have to offer. The staff was also extremely friendly, kind, and went above and beyond to make our experience with them perfect!!

We came to Bali to learn how to tow in foil and we achieved this. The teaching process was excellent with a mix of land based theory and then fantastic practical experience in the water. I’m up and flying and now have the bug. The whole crew are so so helpful and the vibe is welcoming and super friendly. Thanks heaps. Definitely recommended. Great selection of foiling equipment too.
