Ive been to a few of barong dance in Bali but the performance here is very sad to see. The performers most of them look very bored performing their act. The barong and the monkey were also look tired eventough they performed only once a day. And most noticable, the band playing the traditional instrument were also sound tired and out of rhythm most of the time. In about 50 minutes of show i noticed 4 couple walked out from the theater. The place is well situated and the price is ok but they really need to improvise
The Barong and Keris Dance is a captivating traditional Balinese performance, rich in culture, color, and dramatic storytelling. A must-see experience for visitors to Bali, this vibrant spectacle brings to life the timeless battle between good and evil through elaborate choreography and striking costumes. Tickets can be purchased upon arrival, making it easy to immerse yourself in this enchanting art form. The performance unfolds like a theatrical short story, blending myth, dance, and dynamic stage drama. The dancers' exquisite costumes and expressive movements add to the allure, creating a mesmerizing visual feast. Accompanied by live musicians playing traditional Indonesian instruments, the show is a harmonious blend of intensity, humor, and cultural depth. While primarily a serious tale, moments of lighthearted comedy add an engaging and entertaining touch. Rooted in the epic Mahabharata, the dance portrays the eternal struggle of yin and yang, known in Bali as Rwa Bhineda. The Barong, a mythical lion-like creature symbolizing good, faces off against Rangda, the embodiment of darkness and chaos. Their battle, fueled by magic and spiritual power, is a mesmerizing display of movement and symbolism, ultimately restoring cosmic balance. The performance consists of four acts and lasts approximately an hour—an unforgettable journey into the heart of Balinese tradition.
Loved it, staff were very friendly and helpful and the perfomance was very entertaining and fun. They also set up at the end for you to take photos.
Beautiful costumes and a lively performance awaits you . Starts 9:30am and ends 10:30 am. Theatre style concrete seats. Pulled out a star only because it’s a difficult plot which could have been explained a little better. Dedicated team with music and dance . Well worth a visit @300,000 IDR for a couple
The show was between good and evil. It was interesting to see. You can also follow the storyline. They give you a one-pager to be able to follow the story. One hour production and cost Rs 150000.
Stopped here as part of our Ubud tour from Conrad Bali. The show was entertaining and fun to see the culture. Highly recommend stopping to see the show!
Great dance! A sheet in English explanation of the full story was provided to us, the story was interesting and is a great representation of the Indonesian/Balinese culture/religion. The beautiful costumes and face masks truely shocked me.
